Published Author, Creative Writer, and Writing Instructor

I'm a writer, published author (three works of fiction out from Penguin Random House), and a writing instructor. I work diligently to tell stories effectively and with beauty, pursuing excellence in language, respect for character and personhood, appreciation of diversity, and growth on and off the page. With 20+ years of experience in essay writing, tutoring, story and plot development, publishing insight, book-writing, freelancing, creative writing, copywriting, and proof-writing, I am engaged in classroom environments and in teaching/course development for students of all ages. I love helping my students work towards their own writing goals, whether it be educational, professional, or personal. There is power in language, and learning to wield words in order communicate effectively is a skill that can further every aspect of our lives. I am patient and empathetic with my students, regardless of their ability or experience as I believe every story is worth being told and that "talent" is little more than skill exercised through practice, commitment, a willingness to learn, and ultimately the joy found through connecting with readers. • My Vision: To use the written and spoken word to educate, challenge, encourage, entertain, and build up hearts and minds in my community, my circle, and beyond. • My Mission: To write effectively and with beauty, making mindful and intentional use of tools, opportunity, and time. • My Values: I believe that excellence in language, respect, appreciation of diversity, and perseverance in partnership with challenge, are preludes to health in all facets of life.

University of Minnesota Undergrad Student

Throughout high school, I took a huge interest in social studies, taking all of the courses I could -- AP Human Geography, AP World History, AP U.S. History, and AP Government. I also took every other AP course offered by my school including AP Language, AP Literature, AP Psychology, AP Biology, AP Seminar, and AP Research. I graduated high school as a distinguished honor roll student. From there I decided that politics and government were my passion so I changed my major to Political Science and added a History Minor. I will be graduating with my Bachelor's of Arts in August 2024. My major GPA is 3.9 as I have never received less than an A- in any political science course. I have made my college's Dean's List for both Fall and Spring 2023 in recognition of my academic achievement. I have taken courses in all subjects including but not limited to: international relations, political theory, comparative governments, and U.S. government. I have taken history courses focusing on Europe, the Middle East, and America which has helped greatly in my understanding of foreign and domestic politics. My knowledge in political science ranges from current issues to ancient political ideology and structures. Being that I've taken so many intense courses throughout my education, I understand what it feels like to be an overwhelmed and struggling student. It took me many years to understand what study styles worked for me and how to productively learn. It can be very difficult to manage multiple classes as a student if they cannot develop a study method that works for them. In many cases, it took collaboration from others for me to fully understand. I am hoping to help students find their personal study methods so they can succeed in their education and become confident in their knowledge.
