About
Hi! My name is Mariah and I'm from Wisconsin. I attend Marquette University and study Writing Intensive English and Spanish Language, Literature, and Culture. I expect to graduate in the spring of 202... 4.
From the time I was a little girl, I loved reading and writing. My middle school had a reading challenge called the 40 book challenge in which students were prompted to attempt reading 40 books a year and this is where I discovered just how much I loved reading. I read more than 40 books each year, each book with more excitement than the last. It was reading so much that led me to developing my love for writing, as well, as I came to appreciate the craft that led me to enjoying so many novels. As I grew older, my love for writing expanded beyond the creative field and grew to include academic writing as well.
I have tutored on and off for years through various volunteering opportunities, but I have assumed a permanent role as a tutor at my university's writing center for the past year. I love tutoring because it gives me the opportunity to connect with other students through their academic work. Additionally, I believe the best part about tutoring is being able to witness a student's growth; I love being able to help them feel confident in their work, as this is something I believe everyone deserves to feel.read more
