College Preparatory Mentor

I started my life long passion for Art and Art History when I was only 7 years old when I traveled to see the Louvre for the first time. Art had always been my favorite subject, but when I began visiting museums and seeing the history right before me, my love of learning about the greatest artists, quickly grew. I currently thoroughly enjoy visiting museums to experience the art myself, as well as read about the lives and curations of many artists of all different styles. Throughout High School and College I studied Art and Art history extensively by taking AP and college level courses and excelled with A’s and scoring 4’s on my AP exams. The Coeur D'Alene Charter Academy and North Idaho College supplemented the predominance of my education and allowed me to be hands-on with learning by tutoring others in my classes. This tutoring included supplemental teaching outside of class for other students, quizzing, as well as providing art classes to those in the class below mine. As my career developed, I continued my teaching with art and taught art classes for ages 8-60 at high end golf clubs, as well as in my own community. The classes ranged from painting, drawing, collage, and sculpture with a main focus for realism. By having a lot of experience with different age groups, I have been able to broaden my ways of teaching to meet the demands of many different students of all skill levels, and I believe that could be an asset for your students’ futures.

B.S. Computer Science and B.S. Mathematics from WWU

I graduated Western Washington University with B.S. Computer Science and B.S. Mathematics. Especially, applied mathematics is my main field of study. Currently, I work with CS professor to publish our academic paper. In the project, I have used math knowledges a lot. Since I was belonging to math and CS department, I am familiar with both practical and theoretical sides of mathematics. Based on my STEM major perspective, in my lectures, I can provide additional information related to the topic that students need help. It is fruitful for students to know that mathematics is part of our life, but not just something you have to do in order to pass tests. I have worked math tutoring center as an instructor for K-12 grade students. Each student has different personality and math level. I can communicate with a student flexibly and change teaching strategy depending on what the student needs. I always try to figure out why the student is struggling with math. Usually, issues come from the math that the student already learned before. Like debugging codes, I find the core of the issues and resolve it with the student. It leads to enhancing the student’s mathematical foundation for not only current level, but also further advanced level math. I love helping people who are struggling with mathematics because I believe that understanding mathematics gives us more future opportunities to join new worlds and enriches our ordinary life.
