I have 10 years of teaching experience: five at a 6A Title I high school and five at a thriving 5A high school. I have taught remedial, regular, and honors courses. With 10 years of experience teaching English to high schoolers of varied age, background, and ability, I have cultivated a skill set that can improve any motivated learner. From the basics of grammar and figurative language, to the complexities of literature and rhetoric, I can assist in understanding.
Teaching is in my blood. I come from two generations, on both sides, of educators: two grandfathers, a grandmother, mother, father, uncle, aunt, and cousins. In our family, if you are not learning you aren't living. I have been raised to see education as the progenitor and indicator of a fulfilled life. This is at the core of my belief about educating students. Each student I teach represents a piece of the future that I will live in, my family will live in, and my community will live in. They are, as cliche as it is, the future and my pedagogical philosophy is to care for them as such.
