Since elementary school I have always had a passion for building upon my own knowledge and challenging myself. Whether that be through watching National Geographic to learn about the world, reading bo... oks to understand how I can get ahead in life, executing the advice from self-improvement journals, or solving random problems on the internet. This passion for learning and understanding directly reflects how I felt in the past and how I feel now about the sciences. For several years, I had participated heavily in extracurricular sports, however, due to injury I made the decision to discontinue my involvement in sports to focus on my health. This fostered my curiosity about the human condition and known health conditions like arthritis, orthopedics, and influenced my decision to shadow surgeons for many hours and get my CMA certification. As I pursue my medical school endeavors, I have done my part by volunteering 100 plus hours of my time toward medical service and tutoring. With a global study abroad experience too and my multicultural perspective I am an excellent fit for bridging the gap between learners speaking English as a second language seeking understanding in their stem coursework. I can empathize, as I have voluntarily tutoring dozens of students in South Korea just this year. I have an extensive background in tutoring pre-med students at my university, FSU, in algebra, chem 1, and biology. I currently am learning Mandarin, and Japanese, and involved in the Asian American Student Association, serving as a mentor for international students from Germany and South Korea, as well as on the USStride Pre-medical association, where I foster community. read more

Hi, I am Masa and I am from San Diego California. Currently, I reside in Florida and there I study Chinese, japanese, and pre-medical courses at university. :) I am passionate about self-improvement,... language learning, fitness, and animation and in the future I hope to make an impact in each of these avenues. Tutoring is special to me, as it allows me to foster hope in those struggling in their courses, and it gives me the opportunity to communicate with many like-minded individuals. The philosophy I have when I tutor is to study smarter, rather than harder: to break everything you learn down to its fundamental concept. You can practice this by teaching complicated concepts to individuals lacking this information or people younger you are as it provides a great way to understand gaps in your knowledge. Like many, I lacked the confidence or knowledge of how to study. However, putting into practice the tips I will give you during your tutoring session, has allowed me to grow more in the past 2 years than I have in double-that time. Today, I can read over 3 languages other than English and I am thriving in my pre-med courses without having to study the entire day like I did in the past.
