Published Author, Creative Writer, and Writing Instructor

I'm a writer, published author (three works of fiction out from Penguin Random House), and a writing instructor. I work diligently to tell stories effectively and with beauty, pursuing excellence in language, respect for character and personhood, appreciation of diversity, and growth on and off the page. With 20+ years of experience in essay writing, tutoring, story and plot development, publishing insight, book-writing, freelancing, creative writing, copywriting, and proof-writing, I am engaged in classroom environments and in teaching/course development for students of all ages. I love helping my students work towards their own writing goals, whether it be educational, professional, or personal. There is power in language, and learning to wield words in order communicate effectively is a skill that can further every aspect of our lives. I am patient and empathetic with my students, regardless of their ability or experience as I believe every story is worth being told and that "talent" is little more than skill exercised through practice, commitment, a willingness to learn, and ultimately the joy found through connecting with readers. • My Vision: To use the written and spoken word to educate, challenge, encourage, entertain, and build up hearts and minds in my community, my circle, and beyond. • My Mission: To write effectively and with beauty, making mindful and intentional use of tools, opportunity, and time. • My Values: I believe that excellence in language, respect, appreciation of diversity, and perseverance in partnership with challenge, are preludes to health in all facets of life.

Fun! Professional Music Teacher with 30 years teaching Experience

Music Theory, Violin/Viola, TeacherWorship Improv, Classical, Suzuki, Fiddle, Hip Hop, 5-String Education: Western Oregon University-Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Music Shasta College-Associates of Arts Degree in Music Performance Highlights: Hosted multiple Music Theory Workshops Associate Director, Siskiyou Violins (nationally recognized, award-winning violin ensemble) Worship Team leader, Concertmaster, Suzuki Certification Over 25 years of teaching experience solo, small ensemble, and orchestra (acoustic and electric violin) Music should be fun! No matter the age or the person, lessons should be filled with love, patience, and encouragement. Whatever the age or ability level is, I want my students to build self-confidence and passion for music throughout their time learning music theory. My journey as a musician began at the age of five, and I’ve been so fortunate to have been teaching since I was fifteen. Since then, I’ve received both a degree in contemporary music from Western Oregon University and my Associates of Arts Degree in Music Performance from Shasta College. My experience is not limited to classical music theory, and I teach a wide variety of genres: worship, western fiddle, Irish, pop, and jazz among others. I also enjoy incorporating elements of music theory, history, improvisation, composition, and choreography in lessons, as there are some students who have a strong interest in arranging their favorite pieces to play for different instruments, including voice. Together we will find out what your goals are and then come up with a learning plan to meet them. Whether you are looking to learn how to compose lead sheets, concertos, movie scores or band arrangements you can achieve your end game, and perhaps inspire others!
