MA in Creative Writing from Ivy League Institution, Published Author

I have enjoyed writing ever since I was a child, and although I held a knack for science and majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in undergrad, my creative bent and love for writing drove me to go on and obtain a Master's degree in Creative Writing from Dartmouth College. A highlight of my time in grad school was the creative writing summer intensive at Oxford University Exeter College that I was selected to attend. Since then I've published a fiction novel entitled /Call of the Song Sparrow/, and I've had some of my poetry published in journals/anthologies. I truly enjoy the proofreading and editing process that goes in to fine-tuning a finished work--whether it be an essay, a report, creative writing, or some other form of written work. During grad school, I worked as co-editor for the MALS Quarterly Journal, assisting those who had pieces selected for publication in editing and re-working their pieces so that they were publication-ready. Additionally, I have assisted other authors in the editing and revision processes for their books and short stories prior to publication. I have always enjoyed working with students; during an undergrad exchange program at Spelman College, I volunteered in a fourth grade classroom at M. Agnes Jones Elementary as a student aide twice a week. Working alongside the students, helping them understand concepts in science was not only rewarding, but also a growth opportunity for me that allowed me to learn how best to present potentially "boring" information in a fun, comprehensible way that young minds could most readily grasp.

LGBTQ+ Friendly Drawing Tutor and Creative Coach

For as long as I can remember, I have been drawing and creating images. It has consistently been my core strength and passion throughout life, and one I thoroughly enjoy sharing with others. I have experience passing my knowledge along, from my days of teaching drawing classes at the local art center to tutoring experience at the art college I attended. It means a lot to be able to help someone translate their thoughts to images on a page. Drawing is a creative outlet we can derive a sense of comfort and meaning from, and I believe it has a great deal to offer us. I have an extensive background with physical materials, including pencil, pen and ink, markers, and paint. I have also spent 15 years familiarizing myself with digital illustration, and am proficient in Photoshop, ProCreate, and Corel Painter. My work has traditionally been story-focused, emphasizing characters, locations, and other worldbuilding ideas. I have the ability to render these aspects and, more importantly, can help others realize their own concepts in the way they prefer. As a tutor, I believe the student should set the pace of their learning. I can adapt my approach so as to more patiently and kindly serve their needs. Ultimately, I am here to facilitate the kind of learning you prefer, and can provide resources, examples, and exercises to those ends. I am here to help, and to guide you toward fulfilling the creative potential you already have!
