Music should be fun! No matter the age or the person, lessons should be filled with love, patience, and encouragement. Whatever the age or ability level is, I want my students to build self-confidence and passion for music throughout their time learning music theory.
My journey as a musician began at the age of five, and I’ve been so fortunate to have been teaching since I was fifteen. Since then, I’ve received both a degree in contemporary music from Western Oregon University and my Associates of Arts Degree in Music Performance from Shasta College. My experience is not limited to classical music theory, and I teach a wide variety of genres: worship, western fiddle, Irish, pop, and jazz among others. I also enjoy incorporating elements of music theory, history, improvisation, composition, and choreography in lessons, as there are some students who have a strong interest in arranging their favorite pieces to play for different instruments, including voice.
Together we will find out what your goals are and then come up with a learning plan to meet them. Whether you are looking to learn how to compose lead sheets, concertos, movie scores or band arrangements you can achieve your end game, and perhaps inspire others!
