I have received all As or A+s and passed the AP exam for AP Calculus I. I did not take the AP Calculus II exam as it was not required for my university. In my first year at the University of Iowa, I took Statistics for Business. I was not naturally good at this kind of math (I went to tutoring, office hours, and supplemental instruction) -- to ease anyone's tension of thinking math is hard because it is even for those who have had success in the past. I ended up not only passing but finishing with an A. I was recommended by a tutor I went to become one. I now have been participating in drop-in tutoring for Statistics for Business students for the past 1 1/2 years helping students as I was once helped. I have a passion for helping alleviate frustration and helping students build their confidence. I am currently a Finance and Marketing student in which I use algebra in everyday assignments.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Classical Languages from the University of Iowa and a Master's degree in Classical Studies (Latin track) from Indiana University. In the fall, I will be continuing my studies in pursuit of a PhD at a different institution, although I have not made the choice yet. At Indiana University, I was the instructor of record for four semesters of language instruction. I have had the opportunity to work with both undergraduate and graduate students. As the instructor of small classes, I have worked regularly one-on-one with my students. During my undergrad, I worked as the department Greek tutor. Also, I volunteered one school year (2018-2019) at Iowa City High School, teaching Latin. Otherwise, I have made a study of both Greek and Latin for about eight years. I have taken seven and a half years of Greek/Latin classes, at the undergraduate and graduate levels. As part of my graduate instruction, I worked as an assistant instructor for three semesters: Ancient Greek Culture (FA20, SP21), Classical Mythology (SP20). I was responsible for leading the discussion sections for these classes. In discussion section, we reviewed points of scholarly interest in translated Greek texts. We formulated hypotheses concerning these points of interest, and developed arguments in support or refutation. I worked with students on developing their papers for these classes, and I was responsible for grading all of the essays. I have written numerous A papers, and a couple A+ papers, for graduate seminars. Recently, one of these papers served me successfully, as a writing sample in an application to a high-ranking PhD program in Classical Studies. I understand the standards of academic writing in the humanities, and the expectations of instructors for graduate and undergraduate students.

Canada Organization "Focus Chess," and a year later, I joined the organization "Dazzling Minds Academy" as their primary online chess coach. As for some of my playing experiences, I've had many notable successes. My recent accomplishments include earning the USCF NM (National Master) title in 2022 and finishing in the top 10 of the 2022 US Junior Open. I also have had substantial success at the state level, qualifying for the Iowa Closed Championships for four straight years from 2017-2020, which included a runner-up finish in the 2020 campaign. In January of that year, I qualified for the National Denker Tournament of High School State Champions for the first time after winning the Iowa Denker Qualifying Championships.
