Katherine Van DykeWashington D.C., DCPiano Instructor of 11 years, and Enthusiast for All thing Music and Teaching
I have been a piano instructor since 2012, where I have taught over 100+ students of all ages in technic, performance, and theory. I have taught in-person and virtual lessons, particularly during the height of the pandemic. I have used my own experience and training of 21 years to share my passion for music with students, while helping them discover their own passion and potential for music and specifically the piano. I am experienced in teaching students from beginner-advanced, as well as ages 3 to adult.
At the age of 16, I was offered a position as a piano instructor at a local music studio, where I worked through 2021. I prepared numerous students for our annual recitals, and their own school or church's concerts and talent shows.
In college, I minored in Music-Piano, performing in juries for 8 semesters, taking lessons for 8 semesters, and was part of the wind ensemble for most of my time there. While I am classically trained, I have taught technics in Jazz performance and more contemporary pieces as well. I would be delighted to work with you! :)
