Undergraduate at the University of Texas at Austin

I was an Art Mentor at a program called Raise Up Families, where I created lesson plans for arts and crafts, directed summer camp activities, took care of children, assisting with activities. I was also a Summer Camp Mentor at the Chinese Community Center Youth Program, where I was in charge of lessons regarding the arts where I planned out each class and projects assigned to the kids. At the Talent Academy, I was a Teacher's Assistant in an arts and crafts class for younger children. There, I helped out when teachers needed assistance and carried out and helped the students with the steps they needed throughout the course. Through my time there, I gained valuable experience in a classroom setting and the requirements to run a successful lesson. I also have experience with online tutoring, where I was an English tutor during the pandemic. During that time, I tutored children online from Wuhan English. I planned every lesson, assigned homework, and helped them with questions. Throughout this time, I learned to carry out tasks online just as effectively as in-person learning. Throughout my years of interest in Art Education, I not only gained an abundance of experience in the education department, but I also received many distinguished awards for my artworks. They include: -2019 won a gold medal for the Scholastic arts and writing competition for artwork “Chun” -2019 won a silver medal for Scholastic arts and competition award for artwork “FLower of Life” -2020-2021 two pieces (“Chaos” and “Panic”) from VASE competition qualified for state level competition -2021 Artwork was published into a book after Celebrating Arts competition -2021 Rodeo piece was qualified as a finalist in District -2021 Recognized as “Best of Art III” in Retrospective -2020 Art "Inseparable" published in a book from Congressional Art Competition -2021 Art “Inseparable” was Auctioned off in Fort Bend County Fair -2019 State Honorable Mention for Duck Stamp Art Competition

I have an excellent education as I majored in English and minored in Social Work for my bachelor’s degree I earned at the University of Texas at Austin. When I was in college, I made sure to take a wide variety of English courses to be able to interpret a wide variety of texts. I took two poetry courses, a world literature course mainly comprised of plays, and a global short story course, to name a few. My upper division GPA upon graduation was 3.75, which I am proud of. I am currently teaching ESL to refugees at a local nonprofit. I have many skills for those new to the English language, including teaching Grammar, Writing, Reading, Listening, and Speaking. I can teach Academic English, Business English, Conversational English, and more. I can help with English literature class coursework with reading comprehension, close reading, and essay writing. I teach middle to college level. Furthermore, I hold a TEFL certificate from the International TEFL Academy (a well-renowned institution). I have taken over 170 hours of instruction when combining my "Teaching Online" and my general "TEFL certification" courses. I have lots of skills teaching grammar at all levels. I have many simple online resources I pull from to craft my lessons for you. I teach as young as young children school to adults.I teach all proficiency levels. I promise to get you where you need to be in a fun, relaxed, and no-pressure environment.

Student-centric and versatile multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and recording artist

What is the function of the bass in a band and why is it the MOST important instrument? With tutoring in Bass, we work on the fundamentals of dexterity in each hand and the position of the body to execute beginning to advanced concepts and put it all together for efficient music-making through the Gentle Release Model and Universal Backwards Design approaches that are incorporated for self-efficacy. My expertise in the field of music and education is wide-ranging and allows for students to set, achieve, and exceed goals quickly. As an experienced recording artist and producer, I've composed and performed in all genres. From Musical Theater to Latin Jazz, Big Band Jazz to Heavy Metal, they all use the 12-note scale and vertical/horizontal grids with instrument-intuitive techniques to compose. Since I am a multi-instrumentalist and advanced music theoretician, helping students learn how to make music through their own bodies and instruments is something I am very passionate about. If I am ever asked what instruments I play, I stick to the main 5 that I play professionally consistently: guitar, bass, piano, flute, and voice. In education, I have taught any and all kinds of music classes with during and after school programs for grade PreK-high school, as well as professional development for classroom teachers in music integration practices across the US in-person and online. I have extensive experience with private lesson instruction and have been consistently tutoring one-on-one for 26 years with the past 5 years being exclusively online. When I continued my own education with a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, it was to focus on online education techniques for all ages. With innovative technologies constantly evolving, I love keeping up with the different hardware and software that allows myself and students to execute amazing music-making no matter where we are!
