In school, growing up I have been a reading-inclined individual ever since I could remember. I have been able to successfully pass with flying scores of near 100s in every single reading course from 6th grade to my current classes at the university. Majoring in Rhetoric and composition has allowed me to practice analyzing and understanding at a deeper level, all kinds of texts and writing given and shown my way.
In terms of work experience, I have successfully taught young elementary Spanish-speaking students how to read simple sentences in English, I have mentored high school students in English PREAP courses, and have developed a program within my high school to mentor incoming freshmen in strengthening their writing and reading retention skills. From my high school graduation to the present, I have been able to provide a donation-based, one-on-one service with acquaintances and friends where I provide feedback and revisions of essays for school. And lastly, have become a writing tutor at my university. Through this, I have worked 1on1 and in large classes, explaining themes, rhetoric, composition, and so much more, aiding my professor with whatever support they needed.
In my personal experience, I have written and published an Environmental Science award-winning report at the university level, where a huge amount of the work was understanding different articles and finding textual and informational patterns. I also run a small book blog, where I dedicate reviews, talk about the writing styles and analyze literary themes in detail.
Through these experiences, my life has been full of words, text, writing, and poetic lines that not only have increased my capacity and potential as a writer and a reader but have provided ample experience to practice tutoring and teaching in this field, something I am working to do professionally within the next year or two.
