Muneer AbbasTrophy Club, TXStudent of English
From a young age, English was always an interesting enigma, as I had to first understand it before coming to love it, as it wasn't my first language. Once I did develop a proper grasp, I fell ever more in love with it, learning how to weave words and sentences to eloquently describe the world around me.
In high school, I earned A's in all my English classes and scored 5's on my Advanced Placement English Language and Literature exams. I edited and reviewed several of my peer's literature, ranging from college application essays, resumes, and even valedictorian speeches.
Currently, I study Creative Writing and English, with minors in History and Spanish at the University of North Texas. During my time there, my writing has been featured in journals and collections across the world, such as the New Croton Review, where my poem "Jellyfish" was featured in the 2022 Fall Edition. In May of 2023, I published my own book, Love and Philosophy, a collection of poetry from the last several years.
I am pursuing my teaching certificate while working as a substitute teacher in English classes in the DFW area. I hope to excite and inspire you to really enjoy the analysis of all kinds, whether it be literature, fiction, or poetry, and refine those skills for you. The ability to put meaning to words is one of the greatest feelings, and I hope that we can work together to achieve that for you someday.
