I love working with students to help elevate their writing skills. While writing can be challenging or even intimidating for some students, breaking down the writing process into manageable steps allows for students to not only succeed but enjoy the writing process.
As a community college writing instructor for nearly 15 years, my students most often describe me as approachable, patient, organized, logical, encouraging, friendly, and helpful.
My primary teaching duty has been to teach college essay writing. I am well versed in all the rhetorical elements and other skills that are expected of you at your school, such as research, outlining, developing a hook and thesis statement, offer a thesis statement and sub-claims, topic sentences, explanations and evidence, transitions, concluding statements, citation methods, grammar, among many other skills you are expected to learn and demonstrate.
I can also show how so many of these skills are important in other areas of life, and how, on many levels, you have used them in different contexts outside of academic writing. Seeing this can often help you better understand these fundamental concepts in a new way.
