A graduate of Johns Hopkins University's prestigious Krieger School of Arts and Sciences Program in Film and Media Studies, I taught myself how to play guitar, piano and write songs while earning a degree focused on screenwriting and other forms of creative writing. I have written hundreds of songs on my own and collaborated on hundreds more, many published and released on various independent labels, along with myriad experiences in musical performance, production and studio session work. I now teach guitar, piano and songwriting at a music company in Nashville and am developing my own songwriting and production business called SongCycle.
Whether you are a beginner or intermediate player, I can teach you how to play your favorite songs simply...along with the basics of recording production, music theory, chord voicing and progression, strumming, fingerpicking, instrument posture and strategies for stretching and strengthening the finger, hand and wrist muscles so pivotal to playing the guitar. I can also point interested students in the direction of writing songs on the guitar, eventually progressing to songwriting lessons!
