Experienced College Admissions Counselor

I have been working with high school students since 1998. I retired early from public education in 2021. My career in education began with at-risk youth to help them with their post-secondary endeavors. To this date, I am still in contact with former students who graduated from UCLA, USC, Cal Berkeley, and Stanford. My work with them led me to Conejo Valley Unified School District in 2002. My last assignment was at an International Baccalaureate high school as a school counselor. Late in my tenure, I began to work with a private college admissions company, UCEAZY (now known as Upward Path). This job, juxtaposed with my work with CVUSD, made me realize how much role had changed and renewed my passion to work with students on a one-on-one basis, walking them through the entire college application process from start to finish. This also motivated me to begin my own business. I believe in Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Successful People, namely starting with the big picture in mind. I encourage students to begin with their end goal in mind and then work their way backwards. I find fulfillment in helping students bring out the best in themselves in their college applications, from résumé building to essay editing. As an early retiree, I am looking for consistent work where I can bring my experience of working with high school students in their pursuit of their college aspirations to your company. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need additional information.

Literature and Reading Mentor

I live in a small town in East Texas called Joaquin. I have three children ranging in age from 25 to 10. I have worked for over 20 years in the banking and mortgage industry. I have always had a passion and a love for reading. Throughout the years I have helped, not only my children, but also countless family members and friends when they needed help with studies in school that pertained to reading or literature. I have enjoyed being a resource for them when they needed extra help. I love to share my joy and knowledge for reading and passing on the things I love about books and the stories and history they tell us. I enjoy helping others and feel that is a calling that, if you feel so inclined, a person should lend their help if they can. I want to see people succeed and be the best that they can be and I find it fulfilling to help in that journey if at all possible. I love learning. I truly enjoy soaking up all the information i can. I like to pass this passion on to young people and hope that they will also develop that same sense of excitement that comes from learning new things and opening up their imagination to worlds that await them in books. Learning history and things of the past should be an important piece of the educational puzzle, along with fictional works that allow our minds to explore endless possibilities, I would like to help open those doors up to students who need assistnace with that. I just love to help people.
