Master's in History Student

I have been studying History throughout my academic career. I initially majored in Theatre and Performing Arts during much of my Associate's in Arts degree at Greenville Technical College. However, when I transferred for my Bachelors's in Arts at Clemson University in the Spring of 2020, my passion for History was reignited more intensely. I received said Bachelor's in Spring 2022 and am working towards my Master's in History. I maintained a solid 3.8 to 4.0 GPA during this time. During my collegiate experience, I have covered almost all areas of history at one point or another; however, my focus and interests have primarily centered around military history. Moreover, I have specialized in World War I and World War II, Weimar Germany, Nazi Germany, the Holocaust, and Military history. A side project in that for myself is Scandanavian Medieval History and Mythology. I firmly believe that those who do not grasp history are destined to miss out on the lessons that history offers, if not repeat the same mistakes found in it entirely. Discussing the ideas, context, and philosophies behind these events is essential to grasp and apply them to our lives. As a Teacher's Assistant at Clemson University, I have helped and hopefully encouraged my undergrad students in pursuing this quest for historical understanding. Helping students gain this understanding is what I pride myself in as a history student, hopeful teacher, and now tutor. With me, my goal is to help you gain a new appreciation, attitude, and perception of history that you may not have considered before.

Brett Chosewood

Teacher, Tutor, Lifelong Learner

Hello! My name is Brett Chosewood, and I am an English and Language Arts teacher from Georgia in the United States. I have taught both locally and abroad (in countries such as China, Dubai, and Mexico) for over twelve years. In addition, I also have extensive experience in writing, editing, and communication. My education includes a Bachelor’s in English and a Master’s in English Education (Teaching), both obtained from Piedmont College. I am also currently pursuing a PhD in English Composition from Old Dominion University. I love teaching and tutoring because I get to work with students to meet their individual needs. Each student is unique, and I truly love helping my students achieve their goals. I want to be a valuable resource in the lives of those I help, using my experience as a student and as a teacher. Nothing makes me feel prouder than seeing my students succeed. They teach me as much as I teach them. My style of teaching involves building a strong rapport with my students, determining their individual needs, and tailoring my sessions with them to meet those needs. I try to get feedback from and assess students regularly to ensure they are understanding lesson concepts and progressing appropriately. My greatest accomplishment was developing the entire English curriculum for a high school in Sichuan, China. I taught there for a year, and when I began my job, there was no curriculum. I assessed the needs of the students, developed the curriculum for ESL and Literature, and set appropriate bench parts. The result was that all students saw a significant increase in their TOEFL scores. My desire is to bring the same effort and success to your students!

Regent Scholar at Pepperdine University

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always been passionate about English. Before I even started Kindergarten, I would email my mom short stories and poems I wrote for her. English was my favorite subject from kindergarten on. I have a love for reading, textual analysis, creative writing, and argumentative essays. Now, I am a Regent Scholar at Pepperdine University. In high school, I earned A's in all my English classes. I was nominated two years in a row by my English teachers as a candidate for the Governor's Honors Program in the subject of writing. I was also selected to join the AP Capstone program which consists of two courses: AP Seminar and AP Research. Both courses focus heavily on writing, literature analysis, reading comprehension, and argumentation. I ended both of those courses with high A's. I also participated extensively in Creative Writing Club and Poetry Club. As President of Poetry Club, I spent many hours writing, planning events, and analyzing literature. During this same time I was also a Young Scholar writer for my local city newspaper. I have an extensive background in editing and coaching students. I helped several students with their college application essays during the 2020-2021 college admissions cycle. Some of the students I helped ended up committing to California State Long Beach. I have tutored children of all ages from 2 years old to 18 years old. Most recently I was working on reading and writing comprehension in a classroom of 2-3 year old children. At the same time, I tutored high school students and some college peers in writing.
