Effective, Practical, Energetic, Enthusiastic, Positive, Caring, Creative, & Compassionate Teacher

I have been a part time professional pianist for 16 years. I have performed at restaurants, public libraries, museums, botanical gardens, nursing homes, assisting living facilities for elderly people, private and public events, colleges, hospitals, bars, palaces/mansions, Play Me, I'm Yours Street Pianos Event, hotels, fairs, music festivals and other places. I have played many genres of contemporary music and classical music. I was classically trained by some famous Vietnamese piano professors and professional pianists at the Conservatory of Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. My first piano professor was the Chairperson of the Department of Piano Performance at the Conservatory of Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. I started playing classical piano at the age of 7. Besides playing piano, I have been an amateur impromptu music composer since 2019. I have created these compositions in my mind and then played them immediately on the piano and record my playing simultaneously. Here is the YouTube link to one of my holiday piano concerts at Tower Hill Botanical Garden in Massachusetts, USA. I sincerely apologize for the "not so good" quality of my video because it was videotaped by one of my friends on my digital camera. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5wZu8CMoxg&list=PLpKHeu490Ctr6Bdx9uWwjVZQQqXwlk7Hk&index=2 Here is the link to my YouTube Channel where I have posted many of self-recorded videos of my own impromptu compositions and cover performances of international songs. I sincerely apologize for the "not so good" quality of my videos because they were self-recorded on my phone, digital camera, and tablet. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPXawRVB1DNqON-o_ntISPA I taught Piano Performance privately for 7 years in Vietnam and for 1 year in the United States. I am confident I would be an excellent teacher in Piano Performance. I would like to offer you piano lessons on Zoom. I have never taught piano online but I would like to start doing it.

Luther Blackwell
New Haven, CT

Luther unique talents as educator, instrumentalist, conductor, vocal coach, song writer.

I'm into cool stuff like making videos, helping with school, and saving important parts of our culture. I've done a bunch of awesome things that have made a big impact in the world of arts and learning. I work as a video person for Connecticut Schools, thanks to President Obama's idea called Arts and Humanities TurnAround Arts Initiative. Basically, I use cameras to tell stories that make learning more fun. I've captured how art can really change students' lives, making them feel more creative and powerful. Back in 2003, a musical I put together called "Marginal Saints" won a big prize at the New York International Fringe Festival. It was a cool moment where I showed how good I am at creating interesting stories on stage. I also made a documentary about the football legend Jim Brown, called "Jim Brown UNPLUGGED," using my skills in making films and telling stories. I'm also in charge of helping out DJ Tony Crush, who's the Founder and part of The Legendary Cold Crush Brothers. DJ Crush has been inducted into the Smithsonian African American History and Culture as one of the Pioneer of Hip-Hop Music. It's a big deal, and it shows how I care about keeping the legacy of important artists alive. I'm a super creative songwriter and have made more than 400 songs and music for shows in Off-Broadway. I've even worked with famous conductors such as: the late and great Leonard Bernstein of the New York Philharmonic, Seji Osawa of the Boston Symphony, Laurence Gilgore Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Connecticut Grand Opera and Orchestra, and Mr. Jessie Chapman Artistic, Director and Principal Conductor of the Westhill Chamber Singers, showing I can do lots of different things in the music world.

Please join me! I'm happy to teach regular weekly sessions, or consult for contests, auditions, performances, contests, and other projects. My expertise is in teaching how to learn music quickly, fluidly, and efficiently, so that one can learn to read and present music easily, especially to be facile enough to work with others! I'm currently accepting new (young or young-at-heart), committed students until my schedule sets in February. Generally I schedule far in advance, and am happy to work with your schedule. I am flexible, so please do let me know what works for you, and we will figure it out. Thanks, and hope to see you soon!
