I have been writing since I was eight years old. I wrote short stories, mostly fiction but also heavily inspired by my life. Through high school, my electives were film class, theatre and creative writing. I have experience writing plays, screenplays and short stories. Although I have taken classes for those types of writing, I am completely self taught when it comes to poetry. My best friend introduced it to me when I was a junior in high school, and since then I have been writing nonstop.
The first club I joined in college was International Voices, a literary magazine that promoted diversity and the amplification of quieted voices on campus. I was the editor of the magazine for three years.
Now, I write and edit my own poetry every day. I read famous poets’ work and the work of poets who are part of Instagram’s writing community. I have taken Bill Collins’ poetry writing class on Masterclass, and completed his workbook. I have written, but not published, one poetry book. Writing has been my passionate forever. I hope to be a published author soon but until then, I would love to help other writers find their voice, their style and their place in society.
