In university, I majored in English and minored in creative writing and film. From a very young age writing was always a passion for me, one I had yet to realize would become a major part of my life. I started university as an accounting major but struggled because it was not what I was passionate about. Eventually, I befriended an English major and realized that for my happiness, I needed to chase a path that I loved. I had always been writing short stories, poems, and personal essays, but I got a chance to finally develop that skill when I switched my major. I passed all my English and especially my creative writing classes with A's. I have read countless books on bettering my writing and on the key elements of writing. I am now well versed in the writing styles of short/long fiction, non-fiction, essay writing, research papers, poetry, and screenwriting.
However, what I love most about writing is helping others write. I don't believe in the words "I can't write" or that "writing is hard". I have heard those words countless times with my friends and have helped them with their work to realize it's not as tough as they have made it out to be. From last September through December, I was a TA for my professor's class and helped freshman students learn how to write and develop essays. Helping people is one of my missions in life and I love that I can do that by teaching what I love.
