Antobelly Escobar

Bilingual tutor (Spanish / English)

I am a graduated educator from university of Cordoba, Colombia in 2009. From there, I began my teaching career in 2010 in an elementary school, more specifically, in second grade. After two years, I moved and taught middle school form two years and finally I also had an opportunity to teach adolescences from ages 13-17. I currently have 13 years of experience teaching different grade levels. 8 years teaching English in elementary and middle school combined, and 5 years teaching Spanish in High School from 9 to 12 grade in the U.S. During Covid-19 I also had the opportunity to teach virtual and hybrid lessons since since I hold an Online teaching certificate from Clemson University. My different certificates on World languages: Spanish, PLT, Online teaching and ESOL make me a good candidate since they have made me perfect my teaching skills in different fields. Among my teaching methods, I like implementing Bloom's taxonomy in my classroom. This helps me bring my students up to the top from the basic skills like recognizing, understanding up to apply, evaluate and create their on way of learning through critical thinking. Of course it is absolutely necessary to diagnose my students first to know their needs and way of learning. In a regular lesson, I will always have my lesson or unit objective, very important so that the students know their expectations, the four skills well developed and carried out through different activities and games as well as formative assessments which helps me track my student's progress and work on or adjust my lesson.

Carlon Robbins
Whiteville, NC

Humanities, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Cultural Studies, and Critical and Queer Theory Scholar

My expertise stems from several experiences. First, my mother was always rather devout, and I grew up in a conservative, fundamentalist Christian home. Second, my natural curious and questioning personality had me thinking deep and tough spiritual questions as a young child. Third, when I was around seventeen, I delved deeply into my own, personal, independent studies of religions. Fourth, I was a self-taught, practicing Buddhist and Yog(ini) for four years. I dare to say that I have had my own “religious experiences,” but I would not call myself religious at all. Last, but not least, I also formally studied, as both an undergraduate and graduate student, and I taught courses in Religious Studies, as a college professor. Religious Studies is an academic field of study devoted to research and analysis of religious beliefs, behaviors, traditions, rituals, sacred texts, and institutions. It describes, compares, interprets, explains analyzes, evaluates, and critiques religion, emphasizing systematic interdisciplinary approaches and cross-cultural perspectives. Unlike Theology, Religious Studies takes a more scientific and objective approach, independent of any religious viewpoints, with theories and methodologies from anthropology, sociology, psychology, philosophy, history, socio-political thought, and even economics. Two major theoretical and methodological approaches are Functionalism and Phenomenology, with many others. Religious studies originated in 19th century Europe, with historical, literary, Hermeneutical, philosophical, and anthropological analyses of the Bible began to emerge, and Hindu and Buddhist sacred texts were first being translated into European languages. Much like Queer Theory and Cultural studies, approaches to Religious Studies are also drawn from Semiotics, Marxism, feminist theory, poststructuralism, postcolonialism, social theory, political theory, history, philosophy, literary theory, and political economy, even Neurology.

Trevan Powell
Forestbrook, SC

College Student, Bible Teacher, English Teacher, Baseball Instructor

I believe that Bible Studies is the most important subject for children, teens, and adults to study. The material in Bible Studies shapes and forms the life and beliefs of people who study the subject. It is the one subject that has an everlasting impact on one's life. The reason why I believe students should choose me as their tutor is because of my strong desire to study the Bible. I am in love with studying the Bible because it withholds everything about my Lord and Savior and also all the things I need to live a godly life. The unique aspect of Bible Studies is the fact that it never ends because it is deeply deeply deeply rich. I have begun my own Bible Studies with my enrollment at The Master's University Online in pursuit to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies. Outside of my university studies, I was a part of a 9-month missions internship in the Dominican Republic. My responsibilities during that internship consisted of teaching English to 2nd and 4th grades, leading a VBS program, and helping with construction projects. When I returned back to the states, I began an internship with my local church, which I am still a part of today. During this internship I have been blessed to lead VBS, teach Children's Ministry, teach Youth Ministry, present missionaries to the congression, and lead a small group Bible study. I have a strong desire to study the Bible, and also help others in studying the Bible as well. It is the greatest textbook in all education and everyone should study all the riches that it withholds.
