My name is Christopher Hawkins and I am from Fayetteville, NC where I currently reside; however, I have lived all over. My three greatest passions are music, history, and writing. I have played in numerous bands over the years but now, I enjoy the comfort of my room. My love of music extends across various genres from Classical to Heavy Metal to Jazz. History and writing go hand in hand with me. One has to be a competent, communicative writer to excel in history. I recently graduated from Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism where I received a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications and Media Studies. I have had quite a bit of practice writing papers, conducting research, and really nailing down that key phrase or thesis statement. I'm now pursuing a master's degree in History from East Carolina University. For the last two years, I worked as a senior writing mentor at Arizona State University where I helped English 101 students. I tutored them individually and in small groups and found that the students I worked with largely improved their grades overall. It was doing this job that I decided to pursue a teaching career.
