Hannah Jakob
Granada, Spain

MA art holder, Pursuing Ph.d. in art education

My qualifications for teaching art are rooted in a rich and diverse artistic journey that spans academic achievements, professional experiences, and a deep commitment to community engagement. As a scientific illustrator with a strong foundation in environmental studies, I bring a unique blend of technical expertise and creative versatility to the realm of art education. Educational Background: Graduating with a focus on environmental studies from Soka University of America and earning a Master's degree in drawing from the University of Granada in Spain has equipped me with a solid academic foundation. My studies have not only honed my technical skills but also instilled in me an interdisciplinary approach that seamlessly merges scientific understanding with artistic expression. Artistic Expertise: My primary artistic style involves extensive layering of watercolors, emphasizing a meticulous attention to detail essential in scientific illustration. The choice to work directly from life, rather than relying solely on still images, underscores my commitment to experiential authenticity. This approach has been refined through collaborative projects with local non-profit conservation organizations, where I have actively engaged with the intersection of art and environmental advocacy. Community Engagement: Serving as an Environmental Educator at the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, I conducted field sketching and scientific illustration workshops. This experience not only enriched my understanding of the pedagogical aspects of art education but also highlighted the importance of tailoring teaching methods to diverse audiences. My commitment to community-based projects extends beyond the classroom, contributing to a practical understanding of the role of art in fostering environmental awareness. Visual Storytelling Practices: My versatility in visual storytelling practices, ranging from didactic medical illustrations to cultural embodiment, reflects an adaptability cr

Larry Kramer
Lisbon, Portugal

Professional educator, native speaker, and world traveling literature and history geek!

First and foremost, I am a lifelong student of literature. From an early age, I have excelled in advanced placement English classes, with a particular passion for literature and literary analysis. Naturally, this passion drove me to achieve a BA in the English language arts, and I became a secondary school English teacher and tutor. Over the years as a teacher/trainer, I have used my ELA experience to help students of all ages use these skills--writing, content editing, grammar, critical thinking--to excel in their academic or career endeavors. For the last decade, I've homeschooled/world schooled my two daughters in English, history and civics. My eldest daughter recently received her high school diploma (and a 4.1 GPA) from an accredited institution, and will be attending film school in the UK in the fall. While my specialty is literary analysis, I do have extensive background in grammar, writing (both creative and non-fiction) and reading acquisition. Too, my approach to tutoring or teaching is interdisciplinary: I also impart aspects of history, social sciences and other humanities examples to provide a well-rounded understanding of literary study. I currently work online as an English and history tutor, an academic learning coach, and an ELA teacher. Through other platforms, I teach long term and 'mini' classes in essay and creative writing, literary genre studies, and general and era specific history. Ultimately, I'm devoted to tutoring and teaching English because it allows me to share these passions with other like-minded students...

Emily Larson
Madrid, Spain

English Tutor

I have always enjoyed the English language. When I started studying Spanish at a young age, I soon realized how fun and helpful it can be to learn a second language. Although it was challenging at times, I loved being able to converse with my peers and learn about different Spanish-speaking cultures. I loved Spanish, but my favorite class was English. I enjoyed creative writing, learning new vocabulary words that I could slip into everyday conversation, and reading and interpreting assigned books. Coupled with my wonderful experience learning Spanish, I quickly realized I wanted to give students the same experience I was lucky to have whilst learning a second language. When I graduated university, I knew I wanted to be an ESL teacher. I moved to Madrid, Spain in 2017 and started teaching English at a public school. Since then, I have obtained experience in the private school sector, private tutoring classes, and online classes. While working in-person at school, I design a curriculum to teach my students grammar, vocabulary, listening, and speaking skills. I also love to teach students about my culture, as well as different English-speaking cultures around the world. Recently, we watched a video about how they celebrate Christmas in Great Britain and had a lively conversation regarding which foods the students would like to try, and how it compares to their celebrations in Spain. I also have 5 years' experience preparing primary and high school students for the PET, KET, FCE, and CAE Cambridge Exams. I love working in-person with my students, but I also love teaching online classes. I have 3 years' experience teaching online. My online classes are fun and engaging. I love to sing songs with them, and use lots of TPR to help them retain concepts. In all of my experience as an ESL teacher, my favorite part is seeing the smile on my student's faces when they succeed.
