Jason JutrasAlfred, MEProfessional Geologist Mentor
I am a Registered Professional Geologist by the State of Maine with close to a decade of experience working in both the Environmental and Geotechnical industries in Hawaii as well as an additional number years doing field work for the town of Ogunquit regarding climate change impact and the effects on the town’s beach. Recently, I have been conducting geologic educational seminars for the town’s library as well as other organizations in the State. Additionally, I worked for Project Galileo in the late 90's producing surface maps of the three of the four Galilean Moons (excluding IO),
I have a passion for teaching with my primary emphasis on Earth History. In the last year I have written and performed three lectures; "1.2 Billion Years of History in Maine", "The Cretaceous-Tertiary Extinction Event" (Dinosaur Extinction) and "The Permian Extinction Event" ( The Great Dying). Although writing these lectures is both time consuming (over one month per lecture) and tedious they are something I thoroughly enjoy.
Disciplines covered, but not limited to are Geology, Hydrogeology, Biology, paleontology, Oceanography, Paleo-geography, Plate Tectonics, Extinction Events, Volcanism, Seismic Mapping Methods and Air Reconnaissance, Environmental Science and final reviews of both the Fundamentals of Geology and the Practice of Geology.
