When I was in Elementary School my parents used to give me math workbooks to learn concepts like counting coins, telling time, and solving basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division tables. They also showed me the math Schoolhouse Rock songs to help me learn my times tables in a more fun way.
In school my teachers were always very patient when answering my questions about concepts I didn't understand, which helped me in the long run. I wasn't scared to admit I was confused about a concept, because my inquires aided in my comprehension in the long run.
I grew smarter because the adults teaching me had faith in my ability to learn, so I'll be sure to work with students who might have the same struggles I did to help them excel in math.
