Natalie DicksLos Angeles, CAUSC grad student, K-12 tutor and AP tutor!
I have a fairly broad range of mathematic skills that can be applied by helping students of all ages. I am perfectly confident in tutoring elementary math, middle school math, freshman and sophomore years of regular math in high school. I am strong in geometry and algebra.
I consider what I have to offer in the math field when it comes to teaching and tutoring as a special one. I struggled so, so badly with math from the age of eight all the way up until the end of my senior year in high school. I received private math tutoring for all of those years. I know what it feels like to feel behind, embarrassed about my skills, and ashamed about my performance when my classmates and sibling were doing so "much better." But, one thing I had to face was that I may never be super good at math. I may not love it, I may not ever be at a place where I can completely understand it as others do. It probably won't ever come easy to me. But, I will 100% use the resources at my disposal to propel myself forward, and apply my best effort.
That mindset worked - I began to get Bs and As on tests, especially in the types of math I was strong at, like geometry, algebra, and equations. Because, memorization was a skill I nurtured. I want the same feeling of pride and confidence that I experienced for my future students and I am excited to help!
