I am a 10+ year experienced reading and writing teacher, working primarily with middle grades (6-9) and high school (9-12) students. I am well-versed in writing, reading analysis, and revision, specifically in crafting a solid thesis statement, structuring paragraphs for an essay’s intended purpose, understanding an author’s purpose, and chunking to understand large texts. I also have proficiency in developing relatable, differentiated, and scaffolded curricula for varying levels of understanding.
I am also an empathetic, adaptable, and friendly educator, making it easy to establish an extended rapport with students. This rapport makes it more likely that students will learn the skills and knowledge necessary to become better and more effective writers. Given my dedication to the craft of teaching and tutoring these past 10+ years, I am motivated by the desire to see students grow in their ability to understand and communicate with others in a world that thrives on these skills–both verbally and in written form.
