From a young age, I have been an avid reader and it's become a part of my identity. I love reading books, analyzing literature, and writing short stories. I have a strong passion for teaching and help... ing others. Throughout high school, I took several English and Creative Writing classes. These courses deepened my appreciation for literature and provided a platform to hone my writing skills and experiment with different narrative styles, further allowing me to explore different book genres. The opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions and dissect complex themes with others enriched my understanding of the literary world. I will help students recognize the sounds that letters make, spell words, build reading proficiency, and recognize literary devices. Hi! My name is Lauren, and I'm a rising sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington pursuing a degree in Psychology, with a double minor in Neuroscience, and Medical Humanities. I've... been a mentor and advocate for students since high school, which has been a driving force for me when tutoring and has become a part of my identity. I created a program that helped students struggling to build peer relationships and open the minds of those who may not recognize what is going on around them. Additionally, I was an ambassador who helped 8th graders register for classes and helped freshmen navigate their first year of high school. I'm still an ambassador for my university's study abroad programs(something I had the opportunity to do), I mentor international students, and I work as an ESL tutor with international students. My experience and love for English and reading, as well as being an IB student are all subjects I am passionate about and focused on.
