“I believe in you”

I have been passionate about the English language for most of my life, and teaching others is a joy for me. My qualifications for tutoring English include: • Strong knowledge of English grammar and mechanics. I scored in the 99th percentile on grammar sections of standardized tests throughout my education. Having studied grammar rules intensively, I can help students improve their writing by identifying and correcting errors. • Experience teaching English. In high school, I tutored younger students part-time to help them improve their writing and reading comprehension. I developed lesson plans tailored to their skill levels and paced lessons appropriately based on their progress. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. I consistently earned high marks for my writing and public speaking throughout school. I can serve as a role model for students by demonstrating proper grammar, word choice, and expression in my speech and writing. • Patience and a positive attitude. I truly enjoy helping others learn and grow. I bring patience, encouragement, and a sense of humor to my lessons to keep students motivated and engaged. • A love of reading and literature. I have read widely across genres for most of my life. I can expose students to new authors and works that spark their interest in reading for pleasure and knowledge. While my formal qualifications are strong, my passion for the English language and my desire to help students succeed are what drive me to be an effective tutor. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how I may assist your English learning goals.

Reading and Writing Help, Incoming Master's Student

Since a young age, I have loved English - reading, writing, analyzing, and everything in between. In high school, I received all A's in AP English courses and earned 4's and 5's on the AP Lang and American Lit exams. I became an avid reader and writer in high school, carrying my passion to college. In college, I studied Communication with a double concentration in Journalism and Public Relations. As a Communication Major, I spent lots of time writing, researching, interviewing, and reading. I worked at my university newspaper, where I interviewed and fact-checked, as well as wrote compelling social media and newsletter copy. I also held an editorial internship at a popular government technology trade publication, where I wrote articles from press releases and speaker events that I attended. During college, I also worked at a martial arts school, where I had the opportunity to manage the social media and website/blog. I wrote tons of blogs, and social media posts, and handled website copy as well as marketing and advertising collateral. After graduation, I spent one year at a public relations agency, where my professional writing was able to shine. I spent my days writing award applications, press releases, blogs, and internal communications. Currently, I'm working towards becoming a teacher and sharing my love for reading and writing. I can help students with writing essays, reading comprehension, ACT prep and college admissions.
