I am a lifelong English nerd--as soon as I could read, I began to write stories. I always excelled in my English courses and graduated top of my class in high school and from Otterbein University in O... hio. I tutored essay writing at a community college for 1 year, and went on to teach high school English/Language Arts for 5 years at a small STEM school. I spent two years working in a makerspace where I wrote all the project instructions for learning different machines there. I continue to study creative writing on my own time and grammar. I have experience in writing everything from essays to marketing copy to tutorials for complex machines and have published poetry and stories. Hi, I'm Karly from Ohio, and I love learning. Talking about books and words and grammar? You my not believe me, but I might convince you that grammar can be fun. I also love trees and everything else ... outdoors. Sometimes I play Minecraft, too. And write poems. And go listen to live music (indie rock, classical, folk, I'll go!) Learning is hard work, but it is also full of joy and should be fun. That's how I approach tutoring and teaching--how can we take something that seems dull and enjoy it? I love to laugh, and making students feel safe and comfortable is my top priority. I believe English connects all subjects, and I love to help students see how it can connect to what they are passionate about.
