Dedicated to academic success!

Regarding my background and content expertise, I went to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics through their Computer Oriented Mathematics Program and then completed all coursework toward a Master of Arts in Teaching 5-12 entirely online through Western Governors University, which I found to be an exciting way to learn and produce work. In my employment history, I spent 7 years teaching pre-algebra, intro to algebra, algebra 1 and 2, and geometry at Brockton High School. I taught Math courses after school in many programs, including an exciting program teaching Algebra and Geometry in Spanish for our Latino cohort. I spent several years, prior to COVID, home teaching students who had been hospitalized, behavioral and mental health disorders, or pending convictions. I was devoted to educating in this community where I taught at the adult learning center to teach parents to speak English. All of these teaching experiences have allowed me to embrace fundamental perspectives in teaching. I am fascinated with technology and tools used to make education more active, engaging, and exciting because they incite innovation and creativity. I am also inspired by art, music, culture, and dance. I have developed some of these skills with 4 years of art lessons, 15 years of piano lessons in classical music, 8 years of Spanish classes, and various Latino and African dance classes. I am fascinated with the diversity in our communities and ultimately found myself in one of the most rewarding careers as an educator. My goal is to inspire students, guide them toward academic success, and inspire creativity in their own mediums and metacognitions in ways that they can embrace themselves and feel safe to explore information and knowledge. I live for collaboration and feedback, and I make it a priority to be supportive. My friends and colleagues recognize me especially for possessing extraordinary levels of patience, understanding.

Psychology Tutor

I have worked within and actively studying psychology since I was in high school. Through the University at Albany, SUNY, I was able to pursue an academic career in psychological research. The program was a total of 3 years, overall earning 12 college credits from the University at Albany. I was a T.A. for the UAlbany University in High School Research Program at Y.P.I.E (Yonkers Partners in Education), a local non-profit located in Yonkers, New York built to support underserved students in the Yonkers School District. I had taught and mentored for YPIE and its students for 2 years, mainly teaching research writing, presentation design and software, and public speaking. I also advised students on finding mentorship and to collaborate with other professionals in the field. I had worked on research in architectural psychology, measuring employee productivity, via a specialized scale to track self reported results, in an open office comparing to a traditional office spaces. For the next 2 years of the University in High School program, I had worked in Music and Movement Therapy on children with severs ASD. I had partnered with Dr. Bradley Bloomfield from the University of Alabama, to work on this research project at Camp Ramapo, a camp designed for children with special needs. Due to Covid-19 however, these projects were halted. But, I'm currently planning on redoing the study now that I am a college student, with University resources. I have taught to students from age 5-18+, I have training in child development, first aid and cpr, child nutrition, psychological first aid, psycho-education, and psychological research skills. I have many interdisciplinary skills and experiences that I have completed over my life so far. I love teaching, I think it is a crucial skills to have and can truly inspire people to see what is out there.
