Elementary Education

I recently graduated from Saint Joseph's University on Long Island, New York. I obtained a bachelor's degree in elementary education in both general and special education. I have been teaching as a permanent substitute teacher within the Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School (3-5) since January of 2023. Aside from my substitute teaching position, I have numerous experiences within numerous different classroom settings and age groups. I have student taught within 2 general education settings and 2 special education settings and I loved each minute of each. I have taught every grade within my certification range (K-6) except 6th grade. I love being a substitute teacher because each class is so different and I am very good at conforming to each classroom's accommodations, daily habits, as well as strengths and weaknesses that I discover from working with my students. I enjoy the small group and 1 on 1 instruction so much, and I have had so many opportunities to do so day in and day out. Working within small groups lets me gain a perspective on specific difficulties students may have, and it can be a catalyst for me to help transform those weaknesses into strengths. I can teach any and every subject area within the K-6 grade range. Being in various classrooms and conforming with the teacher's sub plans has taught me numerous things about successfully teaching content areas without any prior knowledge of the lesson. I am a fast thinker and I always execute my lessons to the best of my abilities. Within my student teaching placements, I have been assigned to be the small group facilitator in a special education classroom meaning I would be responsible for assisting and tutoring a small group of students with class work. I love each minute of teaching and I can not wait to be tutoring the future generation of doctors, lawyers, scientists, mathematicians, and engineers. With great teachers providing a path of success for the next generation, we will change the world.
