Undergraduate Student - B.S. Computer Science

Since the introduction Khan Academy course I took in sixth grade, Computer Science has never left my life and I'm happy for it. From middle school to highschool, I have been worked on my skills through learning languages, such as Python and Java, and through programming many types of robots. My highschool allowed us to take Advanced Placement courses from sophomore year on and since then I have received mostly 5s on my exams, two of which were Computer Science ones. In highschool, I was additionally the Lead Programmer for the Robotics Team for almost four years. It has been nothing but fun attending all the Robotics meets, programming hackathons, and Cybersecurity competitions. Currently, I am a Computer Science major and have joined numerous clubs centered around that including Gamespawn, which is a game development club, and the Cyber club, which focuses on Cybersecurity. Both clubs have brought me various experiences to add to my background ranging from Game Jams to Capture the Flags to even Junior Officer positions. I understand the intimidating factor of Computer Science, especially for many children, however that is exactly what I aim to eliminate. Utilizing my experience and skillsets, I wish to be able to offer guidance and inspire young minds to not only learn this valuable field of knowledge but also to raise their self-confidence and be able to challenge themselves. This is what I was able to achieve at the Summer Programs I tutored for last year and is what I aim to achieve here at Lessonpal.

As soon as I learned how to read it's something I've always been passionate about. It was my favorite subject starting from elementary all the way through high school. I love reading books, poems, novels, and also writing my own literature. In high school, I participated extensively in book clubs as well as receiving A's in all my English/Reading classes. In my book clubs, we would each read a paragraph out loud throughout the entirety of the book, which helped all of us with effortlessly pronouncing and declaring our words clearly. Having a sibling who grappled to understand reading for most of their life , I understand first-hand the struggle of trying to learn how to read. I believe this makes me a proficient tutor for those who are looking to advance their skills in reading because I can understand the difficulty. I have an extensive background in tutoring and coaching students in order to advance their reading skills. l worked with an after school special needs program where I helped several students with their speech class where they had to publicly read passages and long speeches in front of the entire class. Some of the students I helped moved up two reading levels and others were able to move to a more advanced class. I currently tutor my fellow peers at college in reading. I specifically focus on helping freshman with words that are harder to recognize and with reading long passages fluently and accurately; which is something I've seen most people struggle with.

At a young age I was passionate with learning about films and hoping that one day I will able to crate my own film. I have had a chance to take many film classes going from middle school to high school even up until my college years. I've written my own screenplays during the pandemic and I've helped many screenwriters when going through their own scripts even getting a chance to act in a short film. I always love to read scripts and imagine that I'm watching the movie a person is pursuing to create. It's important to always remember that your scenes in the script should never be first person. But I'm always passionate with showing a different perspective of films and show people a new view of them even if they don't like the specific film. When it comes to Math I loved learning about the subject at a young age and I still enjoy learning new different techniques of Math, although I may get rusty at times. I excelled at Math during my high school years. In the beginning I wasn't the best, but I learned to teach myself many different techniques and took multiple notes for many of the lessons I learned from the textbook and lectures. I managed to do very well in my honors and IB Math classes during high school, while still learning to teach myself Calculus. History will always have a soft spot for me when it comes to learning another subject ever since I was young especially coming from a family that is devoted with history and politics. Many of my history teachers loved how I would use personal events and connect modern events happening today with the past that would make my own papers seem personal. I always encourage people to make their history papers their own instead of making it feel like the teacher is reading a Wikipedia article. I have excelled in many of my honors and IB history classes during my high school years and I have gone through most of the Ancient World history all the way up to American history and politics.
