We have fun with Algebra 1 topics such as factoring, solving and graphing linear equations, word problems, and solving a system of equations, just to name a few. I turn factoring into a fun and efficient game. And, I really enjoy connecting with the student to break down word problems by translating them into workable math problems, and thus decreasing the student's anxiety and fear.
Algebra 2 has a whole host of new concepts including advanced factoring, function transformations, sequences, and series. We learn the relationship between exponential and log functions. I also enjoy connecting with the student to demonstrate how synthetic division, long division, factoring, finding the zeros, graphing a polynomial, and evaluating a polynomial are all related.
