I operate under the belief that studying literature is an true journey- the content we consume as readers is produced by the imaginative efforts of writers. Readers who critically analyze books, poetr... y, and other forms of literature experience personal growth, expansion of their minds, and become more well-rounded individuals. Those who read the content of others- and learn to write their own works- enhance their cognitive abilities, language skills, and accrue insight into human nature. I teach literature by guiding students as they learn to interpret a wide variety of works, each of which is chosen based on learner needs and level of experience. An in-depth knowledge of various genres, styles, and allows me to productively discuss a plethora of works with anyone at any level, which fosters creativity and critical thinking. I believe that studying literature is a journey, and everyone's journey is unique due to their backgrounds, culture, and personalities. This materializes in lesson plans that engage my students and equip them with the skills necessary to interpret and analyze written works by any author in any genre. Hi, I’m Sharon! I am here to spark intellectual curiosity, build confidence, and unlock the doors of opportunity that come with learning English. I’m a girl from the Midwest with a passion for foreig... n languages, culture, travel, and community. I have many varied interests, and in my spare time I read, write, design festival clothing, go hiking, sew, catch bugs, and chat with my pen pals. My geography studies have given me a very deep interest in Eastern Europe and I collect old Soviet books, militaria, and clocks. I’ve been volunteering online with the ENGin Program since August 2022, helping Ukrainian students learn English. This experience changed my life and set my course on the pathway of teaching English as a foreign language. I love the spark that learners get in their eye when they make connections and feel true understanding. I’ve had success with a wide variety of people from different places and walks of life; it’s incredibly gratifying to see someone who was once uncomfortable and nervous fall into a natural pattern between thoughts and words.
