Filipino is the national language in the Philippines. I was exposed to speaking and listening to this language in our household before because some of my aunts and uncles interacted with me in Filipin... o.  In my school before, I experienced using my dialect, which is Cebuano, Filipino, and English. So at a young age, I learned how to differentiate the words and sentences in these languages carefully. We also had a Filipino subject in school from primary until tertiary level, in which we were to speak in Filipino all the time during the subject. Hello! I’m Coleen. I was born and raised in Davao City, Philippines. I studied nursing for 2 years at my university, but now I’m teaching English to foreign students. I’ve been an ESL teacher for a ye... ar, where I learned a lot about the culture, tradition, holidays, international food, and many more things from my students. Teaching English to others makes me satisfied and hopeful that many of them will continue to learn and love the universal language, so it will be easier for us to interact wherever we go. Tutoring, not only with language, has a big impact on someone or the community since it will be the start of something new and the start of new opportunities in the future.
