I've been involved in the visual story telling arena for more than 3 decades; writing, directing, producing, sound design, videography, editing and delivery of a variety of video and digital film pro... ducts including, documentaries, promotional spots, short films, and YouTube channel content. I taught digital film and video production at the college level for 21 years, employing a variety of tools and platforms to include Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve/Fusion, and a variety of video cameras. Hello, My name is Russ... short for Russell. I live in Glendale, Arizona where the summer temperatures are nearly unbearable, but the winter temperatures are worth the trip. I have a passion for teach... ing, and made a career of it for 21 years. One of the most rewarding things about my time as an Assistant Professor was watching my students engage with the instructional material and then apply their own creative nuances. Many of my students have gone on to have successful careers in the video or film industries. My teaching philosophy is pretty straight forward. First: Understand the student's knowledge base. Second: Teach from a learner centered approach. Three: Teach the student, not the curriculum. My interests include, day trading in the financial markets, home brewing, playing piano and motorcycles... pretty much in that order.
