It was always interesting to learn about another language, and working through those language skills was always a struggle, especially with learning English. I studied TESOL at BYU-Hawaii as my primar... y major, where I gained skills on how to teach and help second language learners with learning English. Attending a school with a lot of diversity in student population allowed me to learn about the different cultures, personalities, and learning skills that other international students had. I interned in my college's EIL (English as an International Language) class, learning, teaching, and observing another professor's class. The EIL class is a program that helps international students learn English and prepare them for the college level. I was also an EIL tutor, where I helped students with listening, speaking, writing, and reading skills. I received a certificate for all three levels from the CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) program that we use for our EIL tutoring program to help certify the tutors that work with the students. I tutored students from Asia and the Pacific and learned about the different learning styles and how to help the students. Although English can be challenging and a difficult learning experience, we can learn together and grow together as you learn and practice. Hi! I'm Moala, and I am currently staying in Hawaii. I am a Pacific Islander and am excited to gain new experiences and grow as an individual. I am passionate about teaching language skills to second... -language learners and helping them with listening, speaking, reading, or writing. I also enjoy helping second language learners gain confidence and recognize their potential. I am also passionate about learning, teaching, and implementing different skills and social work theories. I enjoy seeing the joy and excitement in second language learners I have tutored when they understand a language task and have gained confidence over the years.
