I took four advanced writing courses in high school: AP Lang, AP Lit, AP Seminar, AP Research. I am currently taking challenging, writing-heavy, philosophy courses here at Berkeley. Writing has alwa... ys been one of my favorite pursuits. I won for my DAR chapter in middle school, scored a five on the Lang exam, and I'm now that person that willingly reads and enjoys reading college essays. I also run a blog where I publish some of my more creative writings (cringeee, hahaha). Writing has also brought me a lot of tutoring experience. I've tutored several students in writing, some over long periods of time, some for less, and have seen improvement in each student I've tutored. Hi! I'm Julia. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley but live in Berkeley, CA as a UCB sophomore. I've tutored a variety of subjects but specialize in debate (especially traditional Lincoln Douglas for... mat) and English/writing. My tutoring philosophy is that every student learns differently, but ultimately, detail-oriented teaching is the most effective way to grasp something new and foreign. I like to make make sure my student is thinking on their feet and has an understanding of what they are doing outside of just the session.
