While I have been writing since elementary school, I understand the key to writing a good college essay. I attended a very intense college prepatory school in high school, in which we dissected the co... llege essay and learned the do's and don'ts of how to write one. Not only did we go over how to choose the subject matter, but we also went over the way to finesse the formatting. Moreover, in my AP Language class, I learned a lot about rhetoric and semantics and how important what you say is in an essay. I carried this experience with college essays into college when I was a freshman and was tasked with editing three high school senior's college essays. My professor noted my attentiveness and honesty in my feedback for the students and applauded how I took my time with doing the edits. As an editor, I always try to put as much time as I would want someone else to put into my work. Howdy! My name is Amaya Gentry though I occasionally go by AJ. I was born and raised mostly in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have been a book lover and an avid learner since I was young child, and my love for l... earning has only grown as I have grown. My favorite subjects in school were always English based, however because I excelled in science fields, I ended up majoring in biology when I went to college. However, when I went to college, I realized just how much I wanted to do since I was free to learn whatever I wanted. Writing has always been a passion of mine so I quickly added Creative Writing as a double major (though it was later demoted to a minor). I also took Spanish throughout college as I love learning. In addition to my actual concentrations, I have partaken in many different fields and opportunities including entrepreneurial competitions, social science studies, and foreign language clubs.
