Violin/Viola Teacher- Worship Improv, Classical, Suzuki, Fiddle, Hip Hop, 5-String Education: Western Oregon University-Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Music Shasta College-Associates of Arts Degree in Music Performance Highlights: Associate Director, Siskiyou Violins (nationally recognized, award-winning violin ensemble) Coach and Librarian, Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon Worship Team leader, Concertmaster, Suzuki Certification Over 25 years of teaching experience solo, small ensemble, and orchestra (acoustic and electric violin) Have performed with groups of my own students at Carnegie Hall, NY on three different occasions. About Me: Music should be fun! No matter the age or the person, lessons should be filled with love, patience, and encouragement. Whatever the age or ability level is, I want my students to build self-confidence and passion for music throughout their time learning a musical instrument. My journey as a violinist began at the age of five, and I’ve been so fortunate to have been teaching since I was fifteen. Since then, I’ve received both a degree in contemporary music from Western Oregon University and my Associates of Arts Degree in Music Performance from Shasta College. My experience is not limited to classical music, and I teach a wide variety of genres: worship, western fiddle, Irish, pop, and jazz among others. I also enjoy incorporating elements of music theory, history, improvisation, composition, and choreography in lessons, as there are some students who have a strong interest in arranging their favorite pieces to play on the violin. I just completed the first in a series of children's books for violin, complete with color illustrations, activity pages and stickers.

Violin/Viola lessons for all ages (4+) and experience

I have been studying violin for 12 years. I began in the summer before my 8th grade year and continued through high school. After that, I majored in music in college where I learned more than I could imagine from my violin instructor. I learned not only how to play the violin more beautifully and functionally, but how to practice in a mindful, productive, and healthy way. Practicing an instrument intentionally can perpetuate overall personal growth. After 3 years with that instructor, and an Associate's of Arts in Music degree, I went to the University of Wyoming to get a bachelor's degree. I was there for 2 years where I studied violin from another professor. He taught me a lot more about how the violin itself functions. There was also a time when I developed an injury in my wrist from playing. My professor helped me not only recover, but learn how to adjust my playing ever so slightly to avoid re-injury. I graduated with a Bachelor's of Music Education. From there, I taught music in public schools for 2 years. This experience helped me learn more about human development and learning. I was nurtured and taught by my supervisors how to maximize learning time and to differentiate and individualize instruction to meet every student's needs. I learned how social emotional skills can be taught through any lesson and I believe that one on one learning can maximize all skill building.

Estefania Garcia
San Juan, Puerto Rico

Violin Teacher

Hello! My name is Estefanía García. I have been playing the violin since I was 3 years old and started learning with the Suzuki method. My love for music has been present in me throughout my whole life, so much so that I decided to complete a bachelor’s degree on violin performance. I began college at the age of 16, and graduated Suma Cum Laude from the Music Conservatory of Puerto Rico in 2019 at the age of 20. Since I was 13 I have performed professionally as a violinist in concerts, weddings, graduations, orchestras and other similar events. I have also played in operas, chamber music ensembles and solo concerts. I started teaching violin at the age of 15 and it has been my main job since I was 19. I have my own private studio in Puerto Rico named “Prisma”, and I also work in a specialized music school called “Escuela Puertorriqueña para la Música”. I am a certified Suzuki violin teacher from books 1 through 3 and have successfully taught students of various musical levels from ages 4 to 65. I love teaching people of all ages to play the violin. Music is a beautiful, raw and vulnerable way of expression, and I believe that it is never too late to start learning this art form. It is my desire to further expand the reach in which I can share the love and knowledge of playing the violin. My goal is to help students develop and perfect their violin skills while helping them create a safe space to be themselves and channel their emotions through music.
