I have about 3 years of experience teaching English as a foreign language and over 5 years of tutoring English, particularly writing skills. I have worked abroad in Ecuador and India as an English teacher, community developer, and cross-cultural ambassador with two non-profits. My most noteworthy position was serving as an education volunteer in Ethiopia through the Peace Corps, where I also earned a valid TEFL certification. These positions included mostly conventional classroom teaching, but I also worked with countless students of all ages and walks of life, including special needs students.
As an English teacher and tutor, I aim to make challenging subject matter, particularly grammar concepts and fundamentals, easier for my students. Thus, my approach and methodology are very personable, laid-back, and collaborative. I find this best helps to ensure that my students don't dread learning and feel genuinely confident they can develop and employ a better command of the English language.
Working as a tutor and ever-aspiring educator imbues me with gratification, humility and solace. Although it is a living for me, I tutor more subjectively because nothing brings me more peace of mind and pride than helping students succeed and thrive. It's also the most fun job I've ever had! It has been my life's honor to have overseen and assisted the growth and development of hundreds of individual students. I vow to invest and devote my most concerted efforts to each session and individual student I work with.
