Student-centric and versatile multi-instrumentalist, composer, performer, and recording artist

How do we use our bodies fully to get the most out of our voice with a consistent tone throughout notes, no matter how high or low they are? With tutoring in Singing, we work on the fundamentals of the body, identify the 3 main habits that are necessary to belt and change our tone, and put it all together for efficient music-making through the Gentle Release Model and Universal Backwards Design approaches that are incorporated for self-efficacy. My expertise in the field of music and education is wide-ranging and allows for students to set, achieve, and exceed goals quickly. As an experienced recording artist and producer, I've composed and performed in all genres. From Musical Theater to Latin Jazz, Big Band Jazz to Heavy Metal, they all use the 12-note scale and vertical/horizontal grids with instrument-intuitive techniques to compose. Since I am a multi-instrumentalist and advanced music theoretician, helping students learn how to make music through their own bodies and instruments is something I am very passionate about. If I am ever asked what instruments I play, I stick to the main 5 that I play professionally consistently: guitar, bass, piano, flute, and voice. In education, I have taught any and all kinds of music classes with during and after school programs for grade PreK-high school, as well as professional development for classroom teachers in music integration practices across the US in-person and online. I have extensive experience with private lesson instruction and have been consistently tutoring one-on-one for 26 years with the past 5 years being exclusively online. When I continued my own education with a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, it was to focus on online education techniques for all ages. With innovative technologies constantly evolving, I love keeping up with the different hardware and software that allows myself and students to execute amazing music-making no matter where we are!

Your new confidence mentor for anything acting, writing, and singing

My introduction to music started very young when I first learned how to play violin. I started reading music at the age of 8 and continued playing all the way into college. I picked up singing initially in Middle School and started doing Musical Theater in high school. Eventually, I decided to pursue performance as a career. I have completed two degrees in performance. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Theater where I completed the Performance Trak as well as the Stage Management Track at my undergrad, Wesleyan College. I have a Master of Fine Arts in Performing Arts from The Savannah College of Art and Design, where we mainly trained in acting for Film and TV, and I also trained in vocal performance. My experience in musical theater productions, vocal training, and passion for music gives me the ability to also teach singing (mainly for younger children and beginning adults who want to find their voices). I've continued my own vocal training even after my MFA graduation in 2020 with the Nikki Maas Music studio, where we specialize in belting training for musical theater as well as pop-style music. I'm well versed in audition technique (because it is a SKILL that needs to be taught and developed, but it is not covered in the acting curriculum as much as it should be), how to record and create self-tapes, how to build your resume, and how to build your brand and network. Music and singing is a deep passion of mine, and I love teaching people who want to pursue the same passion as me. I have experience teaching the ages of around 5-6 years all the way up to high school age, as I was a mentor and counselor at a performing arts summer camp for 4-5 years in Atlanta, GA. I love teaching kids, but I'm open to teaching adults as well.
