Doctoral Student and Tutor

My lifelong passion for history has led me to earn advanced degrees from Liberty University. I blend pedagogy, research, and service to teach students not only history and its importance but also to develop life-long skills: critical thinking, scholarly research, and developing a well-reasoned argument. As I have studied and researched every part of American and World history through diplomacy, information, military, and economics, I can demonstrate history’s complexity, depth, and conflict-solving, drawing and keeping students’ attention. Additionally, I am proficient in online learning and developing courses for distant-learning students, making courses exciting as well as learning experiences. For instance, I developed a residential and online course for Ancient Rome at Liberty that developed expected course outcomes, utilized appropriate primary and secondary source readings, and applied creative assignments. My favorite assignment was a catacomb painting “treasure hunt” that uses a game-type quality to engage today’s students. I have doctoral training in economic history, public history, and intellectual history. My written work covers topics such as the Economics of the West Virginia Mine Wars, several papers about Francis “Swamp Fox” Marion, American Christian History, Atlantic World Trade, Atlantic Revolutions, the American Revolution, the French Revolution, the Second Punic War, the Italian Slave Wars, the Yamasee War, and the warfare of the Catawba Native Americans. My work on Civil War Blockade Running in Murrells Inlet and Little River has been published, accepted at the Georgetown County Museum Archives, and cited by another historian. Currently, I am completing my Ph. D dissertation, which focuses on the 1913 and 1921 Senate Committee on Education and Labor’s hearings into the West Virginia Coal Mine Wars. It examines the political nature of the investigations into a forgotten part of American history.

College Student, Bible Teacher, English Teacher, Baseball Instructor

I believe that Bible Studies is the most important subject for children, teens, and adults to study. The material in Bible Studies shapes and forms the life and beliefs of people who study the subject. It is the one subject that has an everlasting impact on one's life. The reason why I believe students should choose me as their tutor is because of my strong desire to study the Bible. I am in love with studying the Bible because it withholds everything about my Lord and Savior and also all the things I need to live a godly life. The unique aspect of Bible Studies is the fact that it never ends because it is deeply deeply deeply rich. I have begun my own Bible Studies with my enrollment at The Master's University Online in pursuit to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies. Outside of my university studies, I was a part of a 9-month missions internship in the Dominican Republic. My responsibilities during that internship consisted of teaching English to 2nd and 4th grades, leading a VBS program, and helping with construction projects. When I returned back to the states, I began an internship with my local church, which I am still a part of today. During this internship I have been blessed to lead VBS, teach Children's Ministry, teach Youth Ministry, present missionaries to the congression, and lead a small group Bible study. I have a strong desire to study the Bible, and also help others in studying the Bible as well. It is the greatest textbook in all education and everyone should study all the riches that it withholds.

Bilingual tutor (Spanish / English)

I am a graduated educator from university of Cordoba, Colombia in 2009. From there, I began my teaching career in 2010 in an elementary school, more specifically, in second grade. After two years, I moved and taught middle school form two years and finally I also had an opportunity to teach adolescences from ages 13-17. I currently have 13 years of experience teaching different grade levels. 8 years teaching English in elementary and middle school combined, and 5 years teaching Spanish in High School from 9 to 12 grade in the U.S. During Covid-19 I also had the opportunity to teach virtual and hybrid lessons since since I hold an Online teaching certificate from Clemson University. My different certificates on World languages: Spanish, PLT, Online teaching and ESOL make me a good candidate since they have made me perfect my teaching skills in different fields. Among my teaching methods, I like implementing Bloom's taxonomy in my classroom. This helps me bring my students up to the top from the basic skills like recognizing, understanding up to apply, evaluate and create their on way of learning through critical thinking. Of course it is absolutely necessary to diagnose my students first to know their needs and way of learning. In a regular lesson, I will always have my lesson or unit objective, very important so that the students know their expectations, the four skills well developed and carried out through different activities and games as well as formative assessments which helps me track my student's progress and work on or adjust my lesson.
