Darius FernandezAlbany, NYPsychology Tutor
I have worked within and actively studying psychology since I was in high school. Through the University at Albany, SUNY, I was able to pursue an academic career in psychological research. The program was a total of 3 years, overall earning 12 college credits from the University at Albany. I was a T.A. for the UAlbany University in High School Research Program at Y.P.I.E (Yonkers Partners in Education), a local non-profit located in Yonkers, New York built to support underserved students in the Yonkers School District.
I had taught and mentored for YPIE and its students for 2 years, mainly teaching research writing, presentation design and software, and public speaking. I also advised students on finding mentorship and to collaborate with other professionals in the field. I had worked on research in architectural psychology, measuring employee productivity, via a specialized scale to track self reported results, in an open office comparing to a traditional office spaces. For the next 2 years of the University in High School program, I had worked in Music and Movement Therapy on children with severs ASD. I had partnered with Dr. Bradley Bloomfield from the University of Alabama, to work on this research project at Camp Ramapo, a camp designed for children with special needs.
Due to Covid-19 however, these projects were halted. But, I'm currently planning on redoing the study now that I am a college student, with University resources. I have taught to students from age 5-18+, I have training in child development, first aid and cpr, child nutrition, psychological first aid, psycho-education, and psychological research skills. I have many interdisciplinary skills and experiences that I have completed over my life so far. I love teaching, I think it is a crucial skills to have and can truly inspire people to see what is out there.
