Cypress College 2022 Alumni, Hospitality Management

Hi! My name is Arielle Domingo. I'm a resident of La Mirada, California. I graduated from Cypress College last Spring 2022 with an Associate in Science in Hospitality Management. In my spare time, I love to sing, make bracelets, collect pins & mini posters, pray the rosary and lead bible studies with my friends, and journal about my day. By doing these things, I feel good about myself. In my elementary years, I went to Kumon Learning Center for Math and Reading, and I learned a lot from my tutors. Looking back at those times, I discovered that I also wanted to be a tutor. My decision to pursue tutoring is because of my desire to make a positive impact on my student's lives. As a Hospitality Management graduate, I want to have the experience of welcoming my students and making them feel that they’re here to learn from me and at the same time, feel comfortable with me as their mentor. It is about showing good service as I focus on tutoring students and providing them with knowledge as well as a pleasant experience. This way, they can build their self confidence in a relaxed environment. I would love to help my students learn and succeed. My belief is that all students can learn, and each student is unique and has their own different learning needs. I believe I could give them their maximum learning potential by guiding them to achieve their personal academic goals. I have been told that I have a positive attitude and easily get along well with people I meet. I reach out to my friends to see how they are doing these days. This is how they describe me. Because of that, I am confident in my ability to give a positive experience for the students.

Math Tutor

From a young age, my passion for math has been unwavering. Throughout middle and high school, it was my favorite subject, and I eagerly delved into its intricacies. Solving problems, discovering patterns, and exploring mathematical concepts brought me immense joy. In high school, my dedication to the subject was reflected in my academic achievements. I consistently earned A's in all my math classes, and I excelled in Advanced Placement exams, scoring top marks in Calculus and other advanced topics. Beyond the classroom, my enthusiasm for math led me to participate in various mathematical competitions and clubs. I enjoyed challenging myself with complex problem-solving and relished the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded peers. As a math tutor at the college level, I honed my skills in conveying mathematical concepts effectively to others. My ability to break down complex ideas into more accessible steps proved invaluable in helping students grasp challenging topics. The experience of tutoring College Algebra and Pre-calculus enabled me to understand the common difficulties students face in these subjects and find innovative ways to address them. Moreover, my academic journey in math has given me insights into the diverse approaches and learning methods that can cater to students of different abilities and backgrounds. I take pride in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters confidence and growth in my students. As someone who loves math and has experienced the struggles of learning, I am particularly attuned to the needs of learners, making me an empathetic and effective tutor for those seeking to enhance their math skills.

Nabhan Haque

11th grader | STEM Enthusiast | Shadowing Assistant at UMMC | Experienced EMT & Tutor|

I have excelled in Precalculus G/T (Gifted & Talented) with top grades and a strong mastery of the subject. My coursework covered trigonometry, complex numbers, polynomial functions, logarithms, limits, sequences and series, and conic sections, all of which are essential for success in advanced mathematics courses like AP Calculus. Beyond my own academic success, I have tutored peers in Precalculus and in AP Calculus, helping them break down challenging topics, understand function transformations, and apply problem-solving strategies to real-world and theoretical problems. I emphasize conceptual understanding over memorization, ensuring that students can confidently approach word problems, graphs, and equations with logical reasoning. My strong foundation in Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus allows me to explain connections between topics, making it easier for students to transition from Algebra to more advanced math concepts. Additionally, I provide test-taking strategies, step-by-step problem-solving techniques, and tailored practice problems to help students strengthen their weak areas. Whether you're preparing for exams, struggling with specific precalculus topics, or aiming to build a solid foundation for AP Calculus and college-level math, I will customize lessons to fit your learning style and goals. My goal is to make precalculus approachable and engaging, helping students gain confidence and excel in their coursework.

Full-Time Business Manager & Part-Time Professor - Offering Business/Accounting/Math Tutoring

Hi, my name is Jen and I am a full-time accountant and part-time professor who loves to work individually with students to help them succeed in their courses. My motto is that learning is "Mind Over Matter". I like to start with understanding what a student currently knows to build up their confidence and establish a base. Through the use of questioning techniques, students will actively be involved in their learning by providing responses to prompts as we walk through lessons personalized to students' individual needs. In lessons, I use real-life examples and applications to help students relate more to the materials. At the end of each lesson, I ask the student to summarize what we covered to test their understanding and continue to build up confidence focusing on the positive! I currently teach part-time as a professor in higher ed at an R1 research institute. I have privately tutored students for over 10 years in subjects such as Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Finance, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics. Having my B.A. in Business Administration and Accounting, M.S. in Accounting and Business Advisory, and certificates in Forensic Accounting and Internal Auditing, allows me to have the knowledge and experience necessary to work with higher ed and high school students. Working as a full-time accountant allows me to use real-life industry examples for student applications.
