Anna CallisonPhoenix, AZEnglish/Writing Instructor and Classical Method Piano Instructor
I have studied piano for almost twenty years, starting when I was nine years old. From the beginning, I was taught music appreciation, theory, technique, and soon after, I began my classical studies. After six years of intermediate study, I took private lessons from Steinway artist and head of music at University of South Alabama, Dr. Robert Holm. With him, I began intensive classical and theory study, and began competing in local and state competitions, of which I placed in and won many. My highest achievement in this regard was winning the AMTA state piano competition for my grade in theory and performance.
Aside from my personal achievements, I believe that music is a great gift that needs to be cultivated in whomever has a chance to learn. Coupled with my great love for the art, and my focused and dedicated teaching style, I am also a compassionate listener, encourager and critic, willing to walk alongside any piano student eager to learn.
Currently, I enjoy playing church compositions, all things Chopin, and composing my own music.
