Hi! My name is Divya, and I'm a writing tutor. I have a B.A. in Theatre from Wagner College, where I also minored in writing. I worked and trained in the writing center at Wagner for two years, after taking a semester-long class on best writing tutoring practices. In the center, I helped fellow students with essays, short stories, and presentations. I had several repeat students whose essay grades improved with my help. I have also taught writing , English, reading, and vocabulary at International Ivy, Scholar Tutorials, and other institutions over the past six years.
My tutoring philosophy: Everyone needs different things when it comes to getting work done efficiently. Throughout my years of tutoring experience, I have worked with ASL students, students with special needs, foreign exchange students, and many others with different needs, abilities, strengths and weaknesses. I’ve used charts, music, color-coding, frequent breaks, hands-off approaches, hands-on approaches, reading out loud, timers, and so many other strategies to see what helps each individual student. I tailor sessions specifically to you and your learning style.
