University of Chicago Graduate

My writing has always been a point of pride for me and has largely been responsible for my academic and professional successes. Beyond an exceptional GPA and my involvement in several literary organizations, I was also a champion debater as well as class president in Highschool. I won several awards for my written work, including the school's prize for speechwriting in my Sophomore year. I went on to major in Philosophy and Religious studies in the University of Chicago's class of 2022, a top 5 American University, where I was selected for the nation's premier honor society for the study of religion. During my time at the university, I served as a student researcher as well as a Teacher's Assistant for the head of my department. I grew up in a predominantly Ukrainian neighborhood in Chicago, and I come from a multilingual family, so I am quite patient with people who haven't had as much practice as I, and I deeply admire the effort to learn a new language. As an English tutor, I'd like to help my students get excited about what they're reading and writing. There are very few habits that will have as radical an impact on the way a person thinks as a consistent reading practice. Sometimes I feel like an entirely different person after I finish a good book, even a short one — it would be such an honor to take part in someone else's journey with the English language and to help them uncover things about their writing, their reading, and themselves that they might not have expected.

Loyola University Chicago Student pursuing Art History and Business Management

I have studied Art History over the past five years through various college courses and independent research projects. I decided to complete an Art History degree in high school, as I took Advanced Placement Art History and passed with a 5. I fell in love with the detailed learning of culture through the perspective of art, as well as the many specific subjects that can be explored, such as social justice issues, women's rights, LGBTQ+ history, and the effects of colonization, specifically in India, Pakistan, and Africa, and so many more. Art History has been perceived as a pretentious subject for hundreds of years as it has been exclusive to academics. I want to share my love for Art History on a wide platform and make it accessible to those who wish to explore their shared passion further! I have taken numerous Art History survey courses, including AP Art History, Ancient to Medieval History, Renaissance to Modern History, and Modern through Contemporary History. More specific classes include History of 20th C Photography, Religion and the Arts: Nuns and Guns, Women Artists, Early Renaissance, Arts and Visual Culture, Museum Research and Material Culture, and Visual Culture of South Asian Art. As I am a double major in Art History and Business Management, my overall GPA is 3.814, with a GPA of 3.934, including my Art History major solely. I take my Art History classes seriously and always wish to learn more. I was an assistant teacher to a 7th-grade art class during my senior year of high school. I experienced working with kids of all academic levels and understood the process and planning a teacher goes through daily. In a classroom setting, it was vital to know how different every child was and recognize that various teaching strategies work differently depending on their needs. No one is too young to learn about history and culture in a fun and engaging way!

Experience Physics Tutor - PhD in Nuclear/Particle Physics.

I have extensive taught general Physics to students with no background in Mathematics using lucid demonstrations of simple concepts. Physics is an experimental science. A set of experiments to be followed just after the concepts learned in theory in a proper pedagogical order is mandatory for the course curriculum development. I try to create innovative and simple projects for understanding Physics without the use of very expensive equipment. For example, I assigned a project to my students to measure the pitch (spacing) of the data tracks on CD’s, using the diffraction pattern displayed by the CD. They were advised to use a monochromatic source of light – a laser pointer on the CD. So, it is not always essential to have extremely expensive equipment like a grating, a spectrometer etc. to understand simple concepts in physics. I also give daily life examples of how interference causes colors in thin films, wings of butterfly etc. Experimentation could also be based on just observing the physical world around you and I take up this as a challenge to make my students observe things and think about the physics behind it. Thus, experimentation based on observation is a great tool for teaching physics. I have Bachelors in Education from a reputed University in Calcutta, India which gives me specialized pedagogical training for this type of course curriculum. I had 12 years of teaching experience in this field in India and further enhanced my skill in the US while woking as a TA during my PhD from University of Kentucky. I successfully taught and tutored students in Physics in various mega cities in India (New Delhi, Mumbai and Calcutta) and in the US too.
