Throughout my life, my love for math has grown as it is the only subject that has consistent rules that can be taught to anyone across all languages. When I was in 4th Grade, my teacher saw that I was excelling through her math lessons, so she assigned me to teach my classmates the lessons, as she knew that I could connect better with my peers in explaining these math concepts to them.
From 6th Grade to 9th Grade, I have been two years ahead of my peers in math, as I have taken Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 and earned an A+ in all these subjects. In 10th Grade, due to my success in Algebra 2, I was invited to take a dual enrollment Pre-Calculus course with the University of Texas at Austin, where I not only received an A+ in this class, but I earned college credit in the process.
In 11th Grade, I took AP Calculus AB at my high school and Calculus 1 at my local community college where I was earning my Associate’s Degree before graduating from high school. I earned a 100 in both of these classes, while earning a 5 on the AP Calculus AB exam. In 12th Grade, I took Calculus 2 where I also earned a 100 in the class. My success in math allowed me to graduate as valedictorian.
Ultimately, while I take pride in these accomplishments, I find lasting satisfaction in seeing a student gain the confidence they need in their own ability to succeed in whatever they set their mind to do, which I instill through teaching mathematics.
