Physics Graduate

I studied Physics with a Minor in Mathematics at the University of Windsor and got my Bachelor's degree in 2023. I have a deep passion for the subject and desire to teach students how to develop an inquisitive nature that will drive them to want to be connected to the world around them and learn deeply with desire any subject of their choice. Moreover, logic is the most powerful mental tool that can be used in any field of expertise, through which one can assess any material or situation in life and rapidly come up with solutions for any problems. Physics and mathematics trains students to develop an intimacy with logic, enhancing problem solving abilities, and facilitating life in its entirety. In high school, I tutored students in mathematics with great success. Other tutors would also seek my advice in math, and I would assist a wide array of students in their problem solving ability. Furthermore, I had also been a Teaching Assistant in University, where I proctored exams, coordinated labs, assisted with physics problems, and managed up to 30 students at a time. I loved the experience and had enormous positive feedback from both faculty and students. I believe Physics and Mathematics is useful to build a strong, healthy, and successful mind, even for students that may not choose a career in Physics. I strive to teach this fascinating subject with passion and enthusiasm, as to reflect how beautiful and deep this subject is, and how it should indeed be perceived, rather that "boring" or "dry", as unfortunately many teachers make it out to be. This subject, when taught right, can positively change the mindset, and thus the life, of a student, and I strive to be the capable and willing tutor that does that.

Friendly, Experienced Tutor & Academic Coach

I’ve been teaching and tutoring students in math for more than 20 years, so I get how tough it can be sometimes. But I also know how to overcome bad experiences in math classes and get passed the anxiety that can stop learning from happening. I believe that learning is about the whole person. You can’t be an effective learner if you are feeling blocked or anxious, and I’ve see that happen all too often with math. So first I try to show how you can be successful and feel good about your learning, even if it starts with one problem or concept. I love when I can help one of my students break through the frustration and hopelessness of “I just don’t get it.” and get to the moment of “Oh! I see it now!” That’s why I teach. My knowledge and experience comes from years of teaching Math in GED and alternative education programs. I’ve also tutored students one-one-one in math from early grades to college. I have literally helped hundreds of students who started with saying “I’m just not a math person” to achieve success in the subject by passing a test, improving a grade in a course, or just gaining the confidence to keep going. My approach is flexible, but not slack. I start where you are, not where someone says you should be. I determine the knowledge you already have and show you how you can build on it. I am very patient when I’m going over difficult material, and I will break complicated problem solving into a series of smaller more manageable steps. I have lots of techniques to memorize the most essential facts and make it more fun. My students tell me I'm able to explain things well. I'm also good at helping people examine their study habits and suggesting ways to improve them. I hope I can have the chance help you do better and feel better about studying math!
